Faster Pussycat - The Power and the Glory...

Faster Pussycat has been back on my radar for a few years now.  Taime Downe (singer) is the only original member from their heyday in the late 80's to early 90's, but he brought the sleaze rock band back with 2006's 'The Power and the Glory Hole.'  A very strong album, I still play it often.  They've spent alot of time touring since, but haven't been here in Madison yet.  Last year I mentioned  that I would jump at the chance to see Ace Frehley again, then a couple months later, it happened! Fingers crossed!

Here's the best live version of the title track of that album that I've found.  If you can't tell it's nsfw by the title then just don't play it.

Pic Dump 11

Well, it's that time again..  A collection of pics that caught my eye recently for one reason or another.   Remember you can click on the pic to see the original size.  As always, discretion may be needed after the break.

Now, to get us started:  Do you see the girl in back's ass?

If so, you better get your eyes checked - It's the girl with the camera's shoulder!

Many more after the break!  Have a nice weekend!

Gambling Chatrooms?

Chat Roulette is something I have heard referred to recently.  Then I began seeing videos of it.  The following video explains what it is and what you can expect.  Interesting, but its not something I see myself doing ever.

Edit: I saw pleaserobme.com on the news this morning.  I thought about posting about it a week ago but passed.  I guess I missed a scoop!

My snoWeek snow far... snow

Monday morning, snow on the car.  Not alot, just enough to blanket everything.  Not cold enough to really want to warm up the car but I did so I could clear snow off it a bit before I left.  Bonus:  It mostly melted during the day.  I used the broom to sweep the front steps.  All else was negligable, but keep in mind this is on top of a foot or more of standing snowcover in places.

Tuesday morning, snow on the car.  Only an inch or so and real light, fluffy and, it turns out, really slippery on the roadways.  I didn't have a problem in my SUV but I heard of all the slide-offs and accidents on the news before leaving and on the way to work.   A bit cooler out, so I warmed it up and cleared the snow off it about ten minutes before I left.  Bonus: It melted off, or blew off, the walk and driveway before I got home!

Wednesday morning, snow on the car.  Inch or so, same as the last two mornings.  A bit cooler yet,  low teens.  So I warmed it up and cleared the snow off it about ten minutes before I left, again.  Bonus:  Snow from this morning may have melted or blown away, but there is snow to clear yet... as soon as it stops snowing.  You didn't think it just snowed at night here, did you?

Tomorrow morning, snow on the car? From what I heard this morning, it sounds much the same but colder yet.  Five degrees.  Bonus:  I need to stop and get gas tomorrow.  Hmmph.

Its like an annoying 'Groundhog Day' or maybe living in a snow globe.  I hope it gets a bit warmer soon... I think I want to shave, for a change.

Big People Pooh

A group of kindergartners were trying very hard to become accustomed to the first grade. The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher insisted on NO baby talk! You need to use ‘Big People’ words,” she was always reminding them.

She asked John what he had done over the weekend?

“I went to visit my Nana.”

No, you went to visit your GRANDMOTHER. Use ‘Big People’ words!”

She then asked Mitchell what he had done.

“I took a ride on a choo-choo.”

She said “No, you took a ride on a TRAIN. You must remember to use ‘Big People’ words.”

She then asked little Alex what he had done? “I read a book,” he replied.

That’s WONDERFUL!” the teacher said. “What book did you read?”

Alex thought hard about it, then puffed out his chest with great pride, and said, “Winnie the SHIT

Amazing and Beautiful Flooded Meadow

Haven't you ever wondered...?   It would be interesting to see a video like this in an urban setting, but most of those wouldn't be so clear or pleasant.   I've watched this a couple times lately and decided I just had to post it.  I hope you enjoy the view too.

'Back' In Business

My back, my back, my back, oh my aching back.

Today I actually felt somewhat normal at work.  I was able to move about much more comfortably than I have in over a week and a half.  I would say I'm a cautious 90%.  Keep in mind my 100% is most peoples 85%.  If I remember correctly, after my surgery about 9 years ago I  was told I'm legally 15% disabled.  I'm not sure how that number is decided or who decides it.  (I should make a note to ask my doc next time.)

Tomorrow is TGIF!  We will be meeting friends shortly after work for drinks and a birthday celebration.  Happy Birthday Bridget (I hope that's how you spell it -I'm so ashamed)!  My wife and I get to check out another local tavern/club on the near east side of downtown.*  Our location now does seem to give us a unique opportunity to almost be more of a part of Madison, living on the outskirts just doesn't invite that feeling.   It's kinda nice to get out some...

Oh by the way this post will be posted tomorrow(Friday) about when I expect we'll be home.  Kind of a paranoid protection thing, I guess.  Maybe I've seen a PSA commercial recently?

Go Badgers! -er, Great Win Badgers! (I hope/expect!)

---------
Edit Friday after work:
Well my back is still okay, no better than yesterday, though.  I think I will wear my brace while out this evening.
Badgers lost.  Not only lost but looked as bad as they've looked all season.  Big Ten Title hopes can probably be dismissed, but they'll recover.
Now I must look up google maps so I know where I'm going.  I'm learning a whole different part of the town that I have had to the last 20 years or so.
What an odd looking post this will be.  I must think things through a bit more sometimes (or less, as the case may be.)

Good Night.

*For that to make sense you have to know that downtown is on the isthmus, south and west to north and east. And is it downtown or uptown?  I think they are one and the same in our city.

What? Dodgeball? Okay- huh? 1200 People?!!!

This looks like it would be a blast.  I'd probably be one of the first few out, but I'm sure it would be fun!   moreso if I was that young again as well.

It's great! It's green! It's from ZanyPickle!!!

(No) Smoking Update

I've been off the smokes for about 4-5 weeks now.  I miss it.  I've had a few puffs since, now and again, but I get nothing from it.  I am doing quite fine without smoking, I just miss the act of doing it.  After all, it was satisfying at least some of the time.  Just not enough anymore which is why I want to quit.  But mindset alone won't cut it, at least for me.  I need to get comfortable with new habits (or routines).  This is why you are supposed to take this medicine for 3 months, as my trusted doctor of twenty years explained.  I'm not craving it at all right now, I just miss it.  Three months gives you more time to change your habits.  You don't miss it so much and become more accustomed to not smoking and are less likely to fall back into the habit.  I'm counting on it.

The pic below is as big as I could make it (with my limited blogging abilities), click on it for original, readable size.

That's alcohol, then tobacco - there will be no firearms post tonight! :)

America's Top Drunkest Cities

Jonco's city came in at #6 (F), Madison came in at #15 (D-).  Look up Men's Health's grading of 100 of America's Drunkest Cities to see where you rank!  (I hope you're not from #1 Fresno, it sounds dangerous there.)

My Wife Helps Me

I was back to work today, all doped up and ready to go! I got muscle relaxers and pain killers from my doctor to get me through this 'spell.' I've had worse episodes, but none of them are fun. Thankfully my wife understands this and helps me out with some of the chores I normally do. That's her, above, shoveling after work today. Yesterday she shoveled the whole driveway and walks while I was inside having a nap (remember the back pain, and now I have drugs?). She helps me through my 'spells' and I love her for it.

Now I just have to remember to show her how to use the snowblower!

Getting The Blog In Order

Well, it's starting to get better. I've been trying to get all the buttons on top to do what they're supposed to do.

-Home. Here, the frontpage.
-About. Sends you to my profile, for now. I do plan on writing something more significant at a later date.
-Posts RSS and Comments RSS are just that. Don't ask me what, but they work. (Remember, I'm the guy who still refuses to get a cell phone.)
-Contact. I'm still working on this one. I haven't figured out how do it quite yet - and yes I have been trying.
-Log In. This is for logging in to your Blogger account (if you have one).

And just to tie up some loose ends:
-We did get the car out of the shop after work Thursday. All in all, it cost less than expected.
-Friday evening went well. We didn't stay too late. It will be different without Lisa at the front desk now, though.
-My back is acting up again, so I've been able to sit at the computer only for short periods of time. The same reason I'm not at work right now. And that's about my time...

A New Look

Well, I did it. I picked out a new template for the blog. I'm not sure all is as it should be yet. It's still a work in progress. Tomorrow I'll spend some time making sure all the bells and whistles work properly.

A little brighter. A little wider. Videos will be bigger. I think I can get used to this...

Have patience, things will settle down around here soon enough. Feel free to tell me what you think in the comments.

Andrew Bird at Overture

Remember when I saw Andrew Bird at the Overture Center here in Madison? Well, the videos showed up on Youtube a couple weeks ago, finally. For all of you who have me pegged as a metalhead, well, you're mostly right. Metal is my first love but not nearly all that I listen to. If you ever get the chance to see Andrew Bird I would highly recommend it. See for yourself. I posted this particular video because it has some local chatter at the beginning. And, yes, he mispronounces Monticello on purpose.

It's a wide one, click on it to watch at Youtube.

Just a little blog update

You may or may not have noticed that Odiogo is gone. It was a neat little gadget, but unnecessary. I post more pictures and videos than long, wordy posts.

Also, word verification is now required for all comments. I get so few comments I hate to add the extra step for you legitimate readers, but I have been having to delete too many spam comments lately.

I'm still considering a new template. I really like what I have now, but videos do get cut off a little on the right sometimes. Any opinions?

Keep an eye out for a new blog this spring. Much more niched, it will be about building a raised garden bed and starting our brand new garden! That's the idea, anyway. I'll keep you posted.

That's all, have a nice weekend!

The Day the Music Died

"Fifty-one years ago today, a plane crashed shortly after taking off from Clear Lake, Iowa, killing all four people aboard. They were pilot Roger Peterson, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and J.P. Richardson, known as “The Big Bopper.” February 3rd, 1959, became known as The Day the Music Died."

I would have posted this last night, except for Blogger irking me. By the way, we did finally got the car out of the shop this afternoon. All in all, a little less money than I expected which is always a good thing.

New Rob Zombie

Well, here's what I meant to post last night when I had so much trouble. I did a test post and it shows the video on the front page now. I'll have to see why yesterdays post still isn't showing, though. Oh well, on with the show.

Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe 2 was released on Tuesday. 'Sick Bubblegum' has been out for a few weeks but I just found the video today. Perhaps I just wasn't looking in the right place before, or maybe the video was just released this week? Who cares, it's here now (but beware: this is the uncensored version). Enjoy!

I think I got it. Video will not show on this front page if I have a break in the post. I thought I've done that before, but I'll have to check.

Edit: Currently I can't see the video on the front page no matter what I post. If you click 'Read More' below it will show up in the next screen, however.

How could we ever forget the Miller Lite Cat Fight!

See the whole list here.

Not related to this list (at all!), but Bud Light has a funny and successful clothing drive that I've not seen before, after the break:

Car Repairs Ongoing...

The car is still in the shop. 5 days and not much has changed, just had to wait for the part. They finally have the correct hose now and the car should be ready later this evening, they say. My wife and I would rather just pick it up tomorrow after work, so if they call too late that's what we plan to do. We're both tired - always tired during the week. My next post should liven me up a little, though.

Edit: What was supposed to be the next post is being difficult, I'll try what I wanted to do again later, but for now you get Superbowl commercial stuff. Demmit.

Obama Tries To Reach Republicans

Here's my pick of the night. 66 minutes of President Obama addressing the House republicans and pretty much taking them to school. I like this guy. This Q & A is from last Friday.

Car Repairs and the Weekend

We had to have my wife's car towed to the shop Saturday morning. On her way home Friday she had no heat and just as she was getting close to home she said the temperature was getting really high. There was hardly if any coolant left in it when I looked, so I called AAA (they really come in handy sometimes!).

Now I'm hoping we can get the car back tomorrow. There was a broken coolant hose under the engine. Dangest thing, according to the shop. Not the smaller hoses usually found, not the larger hoses usually found, but in between. About 5-8 inches long from what I can gather. They said they've called everywhere but no one has the right size. So we waited until today, when they could get a hold of a dealer. Well the dealer seems to have been not much help at all. It should also be known that the car is a 1997 model and the dealer is dealing with a major recall at the moment.

It not as bad as it could be. My wife and I do work at the same place (different buildings), so we can ride together. But we do have slightly different hours that can be adjusted only temporarily at best. At worst, she'll start work eary (no OT) and I'll have to wait around a while after work for her. Normally am home 15 minutes before she gets off work. We used to drive together when we lived much farther away, but now driving separately doesn't seem like as much of a waste.

Unforeseen Bonus: I get to park my truck in the garage tonight when its snowing. In fact, this is the first time my truck has ever been in the garage!

Other than that a pretty normal weekend. We had lunch with a couple friends, Jerome and Lisa, on Saturday. Just a good little bit of socializing to break up the usual errands and cleaning. We'll get to see them again after work on Friday. There's a little get-together to celebrate Lisa's promotion. Good Luck, Lisa!

Hats off to Delcatto for this. I agree with him, I call b*llsh*t. The last time I googled my name all I could find is about some GI in the mideast. I think he was from Iowa, apparently popular as well. All I found for me was some old political donations list from Spring Green. I have never donated politically anywhere! I have a pretty good idea what happened there and, well, don't get me started. What's a little fraud in the family, anyway.

Happy Birthday, Bro

I gave up sending cards several years ago. I was never any good at it. In the years since, I think everyone I know has accepted that as me just being me. It's certainly not my best trait but I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Anyway, while I was at work I realized that today was my brother's birthday. Of course I didn't send a card, but maybe he'll check this post out.

Happy Birthday Brother! I think you wanted Favre to go to the Superbowl. I wanted to see him get the crap beat out of him. I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted, but I did! All our best to you and yours!

The Meat-Up and Who-Cakes

Ground Beef, topped with 2 pepperoni logs, stuffed with Cheez Whiz, topped with a layer of bacon, topped with a layer of mozzarella cheese slices, topped with more bacon, topped with meatballs and served with brown gravy.

Inspired by Horton Hears a Who! : A stack of five pancakes drenched in boysenberry and blueberry syrup, covered in rainbow-colored chocolate candy and topped with a pink Dum-Dum lollipop.

All this and tons more at This is why you're fat, dot com.

Now I'm hungry. I think I'll go deep fry something...

Smoking

A while ago I had posted about how I had started on the patch -again- to try to quit -again. That didn't work out as well as it did last time. Almost 18 months ago I quit for 5 months using the patch. Now, the patch has helped get me down to 5-8 cigarettes a day, but no further.

So now I'm trying Chantex. I started the starter kit last Sunday. Tomorrow I start on the regular dose, morning and evening. So far I have still smoked some, but I can feel the effects of smoking diminishing. I expect to have no need to smoke this week. If I do, I'll get no rush of nicotine, just a bad taste and guilt I suppose.

So the main challenge is changing my habits. At home is easier than at work. I don't like to go to the cafeteria during lunch, and I'm not allowed to stay at my desk. But if I go to my truck like I usually do, well, things may happen. So starting Monday I will have to suck it up and sit in the lunchroom. I will make sure I have plenty of newspaper to read and wear my headphones. If it gets up near freezing or better I will be walking around the campus most breaks, like I did before winter. I'm sure I could use the exercise!

No Toast For Poe This Year

"BALTIMORE – It is what Edgar Allan Poe might have called "a mystery all insoluble": Every year for the past six decades, a shadowy visitor would leave roses and a half-empty bottle of cognac on Poe's grave on the anniversary of the writer's birth. This year, no one showed."

I remember hearing about this from time to time over the years. I thought this news was worth pointing out. Six decades, who's to say what really is happening? Just enjoy the mystery... unless it is over.

My Wife's Birthday

My wife's birthday is coming up (Tuesday) so we have been celebrating it this weekend. Last night we met several friends after work for drinks and food at a nearby tavern. It was alot of fun. We don't really go out much, especially since it got cold out, but we really had a nice time. We didn't stay out terribly late, probably just late enough to get home safely. Besides, they were starting karoake so we had to get out of there or listen to bad singers sing bad songs.

Today, we met up with my in-laws at a restaurant for lunch. It turned out rather well since one of my sisters in law didn't show up with her 3 hellion kids. The other sister in law is getting married soon. They are planning on a St. Patricks Day wedding in Jamaica, where my wife and I got married (not the same resort, though). They tried to plan a wedding here and soon realized how much less a headache it is to just run away. I'm very happy for them. My wife and I still want to get back to Jamaica, maybe in a year and a half on our tenth anniversary. That would be nice.

It was supposed to get above freezing today, but I don't think it did. It sure didn't feel like it anyway. I didn't see much, if any, sun today either. Damn weatherman...

The Badgers play tonight, so I will put my feet up and enjoy that game. Tomorrow I will temporarily be a Cowboys fan. Well, not really. I just hope Favre fails miserably, but I'm not bitter (ha!). Eff Favre and the Vikes. I hate to say it, but I wish the worst for him now. On second thought, I don't hate to say it!

Have a nice Weekend!

Helpful Hints

I liked this helpful hint in a post from Bits & Pieces. Just because we now own a new dryer since we bought the house. I don't think we've used the dryer sheets in it ever, just fabric softener in the wash. Still, good to know. See the full post here with some other helpful hints.

INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS

The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load of clothes.) He took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material . I’m sure you know what your dryer’s lint filter looks like. Well …. the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn’t go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh – that’s what burns out the heating unit.

You can’t SEE the film, but it’s there. It’s what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free. You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box … well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush ?at least every six months.

He said that increases the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new everyday! I certainly didn’t know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I’d share!

Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it … the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn’t any puddling at all! That repairman knew what he was talking about!

Me speaking:
Facebook is retaliating! The web's Suicide Machine may be shut down by midnight Monday! If you want to kill your online self then act fast!!! (My first scoop! lol)

I don't really have anything against any of those sites. As long as I'm not expected to take part. I found my little online expression with this blog and that's good enough for me. But I do hear of how people are always connected- always updating their 'status.' I wonder to myself how much time they spend on it and what real part of life is missing because of it. Maybe I just don't understand...

Packers Season Graph

If you're into Packer stats, here's a good graphic of Green Bay's road to the playoffs. I found this in an article by Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel. Click to enlarge.

The first 8 games (4-4)

The last 8 games (7-1)

2 hours 'til game time! Go Pack!

7:27pm Edit: I'm disappointed. The Packers got off to a terrible start, came back and sent it into overtime, then lost ugly. I'm not terribly upset, though. This was a major improvement over last season and I expect them to continue making strides with this core group of players and coaches. We'll get 'em next year!
(Now I'm gonna go mourn this loss privately...@#$%^&*!)

Holiday, Health, and Packers

Every time I say here that I'll post tomorrow, inevitably it ends up being a day later. This has happened at least 5 or 6 times now. I must stop doing that. I know I haven't posted as much as normal recently. I'll get back in the groove soon I'm sure.

Anyway, I hope all had a well and safe holiday season. Seems a little far removed for a full holiday recap from me now. Suffice it to say that it was pretty much as expected and the same as it has been for the last few years. It's definitely not my favorite time of year. I did get to see my nieces and nephews, which is always the highlight.

As I mentioned I have had a pretty severe cold that kept me pretty lazy and miserable. It started almost 2 weeks ago and although I'm pretty much over it now I'm still going through alot of tissues.

I just watched the Badgers beat #4 Purdue. And of course it is Wildcard Weekend! All sorts of sports on TV! My wife hates it, so I do try to limit my watching or I would have it on probably all 48 hours this weekend. The Packers will demolish Arizona again tomorrow afternoon. Actually, I'm sure it will be much closer than the last game, but I have no doubt Green Bay will win! Go Pack Go!
