Yesterday's Walk

It was another fairly busy day on the bike path since the weather was so nice, but still a good walk and refreshing to be comfortable outdoors again.  The grass is turning green and a few plants are coming up, but most everything is still brown from winter but will burst forth in greenery soon enough.

This picture is similar to one I posted from the first day of spring.  The ice cream shop is a popular place just to the right of the bike path here, while the community gardens are getting cleaned up and planting started with hay bales and fresh soil provided for the gardeners.

After the break are a few other pictures I decided to share because once the flora grows in earnest the views will be harder to see.

The street that runs along the other side of the gardens is torn up for utility work, you may see the orange fence there, and this stretch of the bike path will be closed this coming week due to that work.

I've shown here on the blog the stretch of Starkweather Creek that is by my house many times.  This is the other side of the road bridge as seen from the green space just south of us.  The next three pictures were taken from about the same place facing approximately north, east, then west.

The creek continues south under the rail bridge on its way to Lake Monona, but there is an odd little offshoot that goes under the footbridge into the greenway before petering out.

Here you can see the bike path, top right, and as it continues to the right it meets the street by the road bridge.  We veered off the bike path yesterday and followed the path along the treeline, coming out by the footbridge where I took these pictures.  It meets up with the bike path again just before the street.

A nice little area to have in the neighborhood.  As everything grows it will become beautifully green but these views will be gone or much harder to see.

And there's not much happening in the gardens just yet.

I think I'll be liking May much more than April this year.

I always enjoy seeing photos of your locality.

I think spring is delayed this year too.

Thank you, BW, I enjoy sharing with you.

80º here on Saturday, 43º today.

Nice views and it'll be good to compare the current post winter view with the green springing forth that is to come.
Very green here but cold and dry with little rain.

It would be a good comparison, I'll try to remember. Have to be careful, homeless people have been known to camp back there in summer.
