We walked down to Atwoodfest this afternoon and again Terry joined us for the fun. I watched most of Chicago Blues Hall Of Fame guitarist

I love seeing your photos of such events.
Looking at the people, and teh signage, that could have been 20 maybe 30 years ago over here. Seems so much less commercialised than things here. Which seems strange.
Thanks, BW, I enjoy taking the pictures. I can't really see what I take in the sun, so I do as good as I can and just take a lot of them!
This is an older area of town with many established and historic places and neighborhoods. This commercial district may be one of the least commercialized you will see in Madison.
I enjoyed scrolling through your photos. It looks very relaxed, fun and family orientated as well as adults. As BW said, it does appear less commercialised compared with events over here. I suspect councils readily join with commercial groups / businesses over here for financial reasons.
This was the 5th annual Atwoodfest and we've been there every year, and it does seem to get more popular every year. Yes, it is very family friendly, there is a side street area especially for young kids/families, including another entertainment stage. Before this there was an incarnation at the Goodman Center, I hear, but it outgrew that venue. Can't get much bigger for the street space it has these days!
By commercialization I'm guessing you guys are referring to ads/billboards? I'm thankful that's not the case here, but as I said, this is an older area of town with very liberal/progressive views. Hippy-ish, one could say.
Yes, ads and billboards, but also the general 'style' and the people not dressed in the latest (cheap-looking, but actually hugely expensive) style, with loads of branded accessories like shoes, handbags and trendy hats and sun glasses. Colours also more 'traditional'. It's hard to explain, but it just took me back. In a good way.
I understand, BW. Do you have any festivals in your area? I'd love to see pics!
Edit: Paul Filipowicz is not a Madison resident. He lives in a small town not far away, however.
