Are they doing a tidy and good job?

It's interesting that in the UK they wouldn't be allowed to work near a cement lorry without hard hats and eye protection, as a minimum.

What is the orange bolalrd thingy?

Ah, the Migrating American Construction Barrel. They seem to start arriving in early spring by the thousands, all over town and on roadways. Over summer the flocks may disperse only to pop up elsewhere. They tend to stick around deep into autumn, eventually migrating south, I've always imagined, with some choosing to over-winter here. ;)

They seem to be doing as good a job as we could expect. Most of the underground work appears done, and they've started bringing up the cement roadway and gutters. They're still a few houses up the road yet, right now.
