Happy Halloween 2026

The Badger game this afternoon was brutal, they lost 30-0.  So as the time ticked down in the game I distracted myself by getting out Halloween decorations and candy.  I looked at what I wrote last year, and apparently we got about 25 trick-or-treaters, so I've been giving out handfuls to the 8 12 13 we've had so far before posting this.  When all is said and done I'll update with the total visitors we get here > >  XX and we turned out the light at 00:00.  I also got some small novelty skulls to hand out with the handfuls of candy, just for fun.

Today I got out the 2-part blow-up ghost and the black skeleton on the door.  Other than that, the other decorations had been out for a couple weeks.  The weather has been good enough that we still have mums, but I moved those and the pumpkins to the other side of the stoop so little kids had a straight shot up the steps with the railing the whole way.   There were two of the small gourds, one of which became sacrificial as it has been munched on steadily by squirrels.  In fact, I had thrown it in the empty pot earlier but they've been at it again as you can see it on the ground.  Otherwise, most of these decorations are from the dollar store, so good fun for not much money.

The decoration opposite the skulls is similar but three jack-o-lanterns.  Maybe I'll try to get another of each next year so they will each face both sides.  We didn't get a pumpkin for carving this year and I was okay with that.  I've had another dollar store find in the Halloween bin for awhile, the pumpkin face pieces, kind of like Mr. Potato head pieces, that you stab into it.  Good enough, and cheap but will be tossed after this as I already broke a couple pieces.

And then there's the ghost.  I don't think I like the ghost, so the search continues...

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Brilliant! Sounds like fun. But nothing will ever beat The Mummy.

The ghost, if grey, could be Jaws...
