Yesterday's Fire, Today's Snow

After a bit of yardwork I had a fire last night.  It was cool, 40ºF and falling as I started the fire.  Today is a bit cooler yet and we got our first snow.  It won't last the night, it's just a harbinger of more to come.  But it was a nice night mostly alone by the fire with my thoughts, and music.  And another 'fireside chat' with my mom.

Any night by the fire is a good night.  Halloween is coming, but I bought a ticket for a band's livestream concert that night, so no holiday fire next Saturday.  Also no Halloween celebration for us this year, but more on that later.  Sorry, it's mostly another firepit post again, it's just this 2020.  A couple more pictures from last night are after the break.

  1. Snow! Ah, yes it's that time again. We've not had a frost yet but can't be long now......we don't get snow every year here so who knows. Enjoy your fires!

  2. Snow? Not here yet, and not that cold yet, happily.

Green fire flames - copper additive?

  3. Thanks, Nic. I think we normally get 50 or so inches a year, but that can vary widely. You can have it!

  4. BW, you snuck in!

Yes, I used one of those color additives on the fire. It doesn't say copper on the package, but it's probably one of those long, scientific chemical names there! I like them now and again - blue, red, green and purple change it up nicely from the normal orange.

The fire is looking good. Enjoy!

  6. Thank you, Delcatto. This evening's temps will be about the same as it was for that fire, but I'll be out there. Temperatures will be mostly above freezing even overnights this coming week, which is good for yard work.
